When you think of children, what age comes to mind? Most likely young children, even teens. However, a group of people that are often forgotten are our adult children. They are adults, on their own. For those of you with adult children, you never stop being their parent. Your relationship with them changes, but you are always their parent. Welcome to the studio as we discuss parenting adult children.

Being a parent is a wonderful, God given, blessing!! It is a blessing that is full of responsibility. As parents, we have the responsibility of living wisely, not for ourselves in this discussion, but also for our children. We are to be models, pointing our children to Christ, and the Truth of the Scriptures. Wise living for a parent involves the consistent use of biblical methods of discipline, as we train our children in the “nurture and admonition of the Lord” (Ephesians 6). The Scriptures tell us these methods involve the use of the “rod of correction” (Proverbs 22). This rod is to be used appropriately, not abusively, within the relationship of love and care that we have for our children. Welcome to the studio and the discussion.
Proverbs 22:15- Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child; The rod of correction will drive it far from him.
Proverbs 23:12-15- 12 Apply your heart to instruction, And your ears to words of knowledge. 13 Do not withhold correction from a child, For if you beat him with a rod, he will not die. 14 You shall beat him with a rod, And deliver his soul from hell.
Proverbs 13:24- He who spares his rod hates his son, But he who loves him disciplines him promptly.
Ephesians 6:1-4- Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 “Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise: 3 “that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.” 4 And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.
